“For Woody Epps” is an excerpt from a series of concerts in Montreal called Solos de trombone à heures indues (Trombone Solos at Odd Hours), in which I play 30-minute improvisations daily at atypical (and perversely precise) start-times. For instance, this concert, one of eighty (and counting) that the series comprises, started at 4:24pm for an audience of one: My friend Ellwood Epps.
